Granny's Travel Guides: North Drizzlewood Coast
North Drizzlewood Coast is an amazingly diverse area from quiet caves, green forests, to snow blown ice mountains in the farthest areas of the North. You never know when each area will turn on you and become foe instead of friendly. Don’t let the beautiful scenery take you off guard! These areas have a long meta, but are well worth doing if you like loot, shinies and group fun.
GmaFog will describe each area moving across the map in a zig zag fashion starting in the southwest corner at Forward Camp Waypoint in Legions’ Alcove.
Achievements and other things found in all the areas listed above
You will want to keep an eye out for these things as you move through the different areas:
- Salvage Piles
- Wreckage Piles
- Shard of Jormag
- Drizzlewood Historian Achievement - reading letters found around Drizzlewood.
Note: So not to get rid of the challenge, she will not give you all the directions to find shinies.
Legions' Alcove
Legions’ Alcove is the only quiet and relatively safe place to think and plan before you move out. It is a beautiful cave with loads of Ash legion resting, preparing and meandering around the shafts. Personally, my first priority in a new area is to get the waypoint, and will start at Legions’ Alcove by sneaking in the back way from South Drizzlewood. Follow the western beach from Leadfoot Village swimming past the first 2 sets of waterfalls. Dog-paddle through the last waterfall to the north and the alcove is hidden behind it.
Waypoint:
- Forward Camp Waypoint is in the center of the Legion’s Alcove. This is the only waypoint in this area. Stock up on “port to a friend” if you don’t want to be flying back to areas when you die.
Point of interest
- United Legions Forward Camp is also at the center of the camp, by the waypoint.
Drizzlewood Coast Insight:
- Legion’s Alcove Mastery Insight: From Forward Camp Waypoint, move southeast out to the water. You will see a circle of pillars and a rock archway. Move around and up the archway, hopping/flying up the cliff crossing the arch, as high as you can go moving toward the Mastery. You will see it Southwest across the waterfall. Get off your springer and glide over to the insight.
Diving goggles:
- From the NE of Leadfoot Village Vista, move west then turn northwest bouncing up the rock steps. Seeing a rich orichalcum vein to farm, follow the cliffs around to the waterfall where the diving goggles will be seen. It is close enough to glide around to it.
Farming:
- Rich Orichalcum Ore vein
- Orichalcum Ore
Foes:
- Grubs
- Frost bats
Chests:
- Charr Chest is in the cavern northeast exit.
Other Events:
- Escort the supply caravan to the Citadel Watch Camp - This event starts at Legions Alcove and moves toward and ends in Drizzlewood Peak.
Sentinel Bay
Sentinel Bay looks quiet and very green with waterfalls in the background making this area seem very peaceful. If flying across the expanse, you will find Dominion snipers that will attack and drop you to the ground. Be very careful as you move across on the paths or in the air.
Vista
- Sentinel Bay Vista: From Forward Camp move through the tunnel to the east, fighting frost bats as you go. Jump up the cliff on the east, then turn north up the rock face until you see a United Legions Waystation. At that point it is a hop up on your springer to reach the vista. There is a bouncing mushroom at the bottom end of the outcrop if your springer can’t make a high jump.
Adventure
- The Ox's Yoke is a group adventure northeast of Forward Camp Waypoint. Interact with the statue and it should start the event. Collect resilience essence without getting butted by the Ox. This will impress the Ox.

- Portobello mushrooms
- Seaweed

- Cypress Sapling
- Winter Root Vegetables

Canopy Crag
Canopy Crag is filled with boulders, forests and cliffs overlooking Frostvein Watch to the north, and Dominions Breach to the south. This is a wonderful area to view from the vista, but is full of Dominion Soldiers that will be around every corner. There are a few ledges where you can land away from the snipers to get your bearings, but don’t stay too long.
Points of interest:
- Canopy Overlook is just below the vista on a ledge looking down on the Archstone Dominion camp.
- Sniper's Slope is south of the vista just before you reach the Dominion’s Breach area.
Vista
- Canopy Crag Vista: From Sentinel Bay Vista, move down the northern road to the east. If flying, you can make it over to the cliff rock ledges below the vista. There is a column like structure on the cliff that goes halfway up the side. Then there are some other ledge steps to the north of the vista, that will take you up to the plateau where you can view the wondrous area surrounding the highland.
Farming:
- Cypress Saplings
- Mithril Ore
- Scallion
Foes:
- Dominion: Shadow, Soldier, Duelist, Marksman, Bladestorm, Sentinel, Scout, Fire shaman, Engineer, Spy, Recon specialist, Flame shaman

- Cypress Saplings
- Salvage Piles

- Dominion: Shadow, Soldier, Duelist, Marksman, Bladestorm, Sentinel, Scout, Fire shaman, Engineer, Spy, Recon specialist, Flame shaman

Archstone Coast
Archstone Coast is in the middle of the eastern side of North Drizzlewood. You can start to see the veins of Jormag entering this area but it is still a forested mountainous domain.
Points of interest
- Shoreline Dominion Camp: From the mastery insight, bite the bullet, get on your favorite mount and run Northwest through both Camps. Shoreline has the first camp (POI).
- Archstone Dominion Camp is just north of Shoreline Dominion Camp. Moving through the camp you will receive the point of interest. Keep moving and jump up the cliffs to the east to get your bearings.
- Stone Archways is a short hop, skip and jump down the east side of the vista’s peak.
Vista
- Archstone Coast Vista is southeast of Archstone Dominion Camp. Sneaking behind the trees next to the mountain, jump up into the crevice and then hop over to the vista.
Drizzlewood Coast Insight:
- Camp Cliffs Mastery Insight: From Wolf’s Crossing Bridge jump up to the top of the northeast peak. If you look across to the east there will be another mountain in view and the Insight is halfway up to the top. Use a glider, griffon or skyscale to fly over to it.
Adventure:
- Arena of the Wolverine is on the cliff above Archstone Dominion Camp. I went in to try and it was quite fun with my soulbeast. She made it through and received a Mastery point, and 4 chests for surviving.
Farming:
- Mithril Ore
- Cypress Sapling
- Verdant herbs
Foes:
- Dominion: Shadow, Soldier, Duelist, Marksman, Bladestorm, Sentinel, Scout, Fire shaman, Engineer, Spy, Recon specialist, Flame shaman

- Destroy the Fallen portals
- Destroy the Svanir portals
- Rescue POWs by killing Dominion gatekeepers
- Use explosives to destroy the Dominion camp

Frostvein Watch
Moving directly north over the mountains you will find Frostvein Watch. This intriguing area is the passage between mountainous forest and the icy peaks. Make sure to start dressing warm for the rest of the map clear!
Point of interest
- Frostvein Dominion Camp is due north of Archstone Dominion Camp. Getting there is better if you follow the path up the mountain to the east past the adventure statue. From there just fly/run into camp on your best mount.
Drizzlewood Coast Insight:
- Northern Camp mastery insight is on the scaffold of the camp. As you move down to get the POI, sneak over to get your commune for the mastery.
Farming:
- Mithril Ore
- Winter Root Vegetables
- Cypress Saplings
Foes:
- Dominion: Shadow, Soldier, Duelist, Marksman, Bladestorm, Sentinel, Scout, Fire shaman, Engineer, Spy, Recon specialist, Flame shaman

Drizzlewood Peak
Drizzlewood Peak is a bit of a hike from Forward Camp Waypoint. Maneuver north out of the cave making sure you turn east at the first tunnel running straight out to the path around the huge mountain. Once around the curve to the north, there is Dominion below the cliffs that will attack with siege. I would suggest to keep moving to the bouncing mushroom.
Point of interest:
- Iron Lookout is around the path into the camp that was described above.
Vista:
- To get to Drizzlewood Peak Vista go to the bouncing mushroom that is south on the path from the Iron Lookout. Take the 4 bouncing mushrooms up to the plateau and move toward the vista being careful not to slide off the ridgeback.
Farming:
- Cypress Saplings
- Portobello Mushrooms
- Mithril Ore
- Raspberries
Foes:
- Dominion: Shadow, Soldier, Duelist, Marksman, Bladestorm, Sentinel, Scout, Fire shaman, Engineer, Spy, Recon specialist, Flame shaman
- Rams
- Black bears
- Owl Griffins
Chests:
- None that I know of.
Cavern of Guiding Spirits
The Cavern of Guiding Spirits is best approached from Iron Lookout by way of a cave tunnel as you move northwest down the path. There is also an extension to the tunnels from Legion’s Alcove.
Points of interest:
- Cavern Entryway is down the northwest path from Iron Lookout at the tunnel entrance.
- Thermal Vent is further down the same path but beware of the Veteran Dominion Effigy and Fire imps. Don’t forget to read the note about The Great Drunken Debauchery of Sven Liefson.
- Sanctum of the Wild is at the end of the cavern moving straight north from the Thermal Vent.
Farming:
- Portobello Mushrooms
- Mithril Ore
Foes:
- Dominion: Shadow, Soldier, Duelist, Marksman, Bladestorm, Sentinel, Scout, Fire shaman, Engineer, Spy, Recon specialist, Flame shaman
- Veteran Dominion Effigy
- Wolf
- Frost Bats
- Fire Imps
Chests:
- Charr Chest
The Bloodfield
The Bloodfield is the ice spired entryway towards the Frost Citadel. There are Dominion with their siege all over the area ready to shoot anything coming their way on land or air.
Point of interest:
- The Veins of Jormag is on the southernmost perimeter of the Bloodfield. You can get there by flying/jumping northwest of Frostvein Dominion Camp
Vistas:
- The Bloodfield Northeast Vista is on an ice spire on the Northern mountains going toward Claw’s Roost. From the Veins of Jormag, move to the eastern range and look on the ice spires to find the view. You will want to watch this one all the way through for an exciting roller coaster ride through the area.
- The Bloodfield Northwest Vista coming from Iron Lookout, moves up the mountain northwest. When you get to the Cavern entrance, fly or hop up the cliffs to the north and the vista is on an eastern plateau. Don’t forget to get your glorious charr chest just above the vista on the ledge.
Farming:
- Portobello Mushrooms
- Mithril Ore
- Winter root vegetables
Chests:
- Glorious Charr chest at the corner where The Bloodfield, Cavern of Guiding Spirits and Frost Citadel intersect.
Claw's Roost
Claw’s roost is a cold area that is loaded with beautiful spires of ice. It is also where the end battle takes place for all the shinies.
Point of interest:
- The Spire is in the center of Claw’s Roost. Moving up the east mountain range, change direction west and fly over the area to receive the POI.
- Iceblood Channel is below the Spire POI and to the west down in the crevice.
Drizzlewood Coast Insight:
- The Frostveins Insight is in the ice flow. You will not have much time to commune so glide or skimmer down and get ready to commune quickly.
Farming:
- Cypress Saplings
- Mithril ore
Foes:
- Dominion: Shadow, Soldier, Duelist, Marksman, Bladestorm, Sentinel, Scout, Fire shaman, Engineer, Spy, Recon specialist, Flame shaman
Chests:
- Victory circle of chests (At the end of the battle that starts in Frost Citadel)
Frost Citadel
Frost Citadel is the end of the big meta in Drizzlewood Coast. It is a very busy and intense time once you are in there to battle all the foe. There is no time to breathe, so run with the group and take enough time to get your mastery insight and back to the battle. Don’t miss this as it is something to experience!
Point of interest:
- Ice Dragon's Gate is on the southern end of Frost Citadel. It is where you enter for the final battle in Drizzlewood Peak. Look for the metal archways!
Drizzlewood Coast Insight:
- Frost Citadel - go through the archway when open, through the next doorway up ramp on the west (left) and follow the ramp to the top and you will see the mastery insite there.
Farming:
- Once in Frost Citadel, you are way too busy trying to stay alive to farm anything! But I really didn’t see any farming as I went.
Foes:
- Icebrood: Elementals, Icebrood Constructs, Wolf, Troll
- Frost Legion: Musketeer, Phalanx, Sniper, Bladestorm, Crusher
- Frost Dominion: Engineer, Sniper, Spy, Soldier, Blademaster, Marksman, Effigy
- Son of Svanir: Brute, Berserker
- Resilient Centurion Crusher
- Valorous Centurion Bladestorm
- Elite: Ice Giant, Frost Legion Shaman, Snipers, Phalanx
- The Ruinbringer
- The Claw of Jormag
Chests:
- Chests, chests, and more chests! After each event there will be 2 chests to open. Make sure to bring enough keys to open them. Some keys are won through the meta getting there, but found I didn’t have enough at the end. There are around 26 chests at the end plus 2 at the other 4 events leading up to the Claw of Jormag.
- Charr Chest
- Victory circle of chests (Is actually at the end of the battle in Claw’s Roost)
Events:
Assault on the Frost Citadel
- [Group Event] Destroy the Ruinbringer
- [Group Event] Destroy the machines!
- [Group Event] Put an End to the Conversion Process for Good
- [Group Event] Help your allies escape!
- [Group Event] Defeat the Claw of Jormag
Other Events
Assault on the Frost Citadel
These events are throughout Drizzlewood and proceeds to the final events in the Frost Citadel
- [Group Event] Help capture landing sites for the charr
- [Group Event] Help construct allied siege engines
- [Group Event] Use the allied cannons to destroy the Citadel gate
- [Group Event] Defeat the guardian elemental to proceed
- [Group Event] Push Through the Front Line
Legions' Alcove
- Escort the supply caravan to the Citadel Watch Camp - this starts at Legions Alcove and moves toward and ends in Drizzlewood Peak
At the start of my last two articles, I wasn’t too sure I would like Drizzlewood Coast. Personally, big fights stress me, but I am glad I visited this area and described all the areas above. It is most enlightening and I was able to adapt, finding places to breathe on the way through. If you are one that likes to be busy, have a lot of battles, and enjoy shinies, this is the place for you to travel. Enjoy!
